Digital X-ray

For the best image quality, we use the latest high-tech digital X-ray equipment. The benefits of digital X-rays over traditional film X-rays, include:

  • Digital images can be computer-enhanced. Larger, clearer, color-enhanced images can result in a more accurate diagnosis.
  • More recent X-rays can be digitally compared to previous X-rays. By subtracting out everything that is the same and providing a clear image of anything that is different, tiny changes that may not be visible to the naked eye can be caught earlier.
  • You are exposed to much less radiation (up to 90% less) than traditional X-rays.
  • Digital radiography is also better for the environment. It doesn’t use photo chemicals and traditional film, thus eliminating waste.

Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, uses a magnetic field and a sophisticated computer system to give reliable and detailed images of the body. In orthopaedics, we use MRI for high quality images of soft tissue areas such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Our open MRI machine produces very clear images of the extremities, including the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, foot and ankle.

MRI can help provide information for a fast and accurate diagnosis and possibly reduce the need for exploratory surgery or other diagnostic procedures. Our open MRI machine was designed with your comfort in mind by providing spacious, stress-free accommodations for claustrophobic or larger patients.

Fracture Care, Casting and Bracing Equipment

For your convenience, we offer an extensive inventory of orthopaedic slings, splints, boots and braces for surgical and non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. You can be fitted by our trained staff for a splint, boot or custom knee, foot, ankle or wrist brace right in the office. That means you can head home with the items you need immediately after your visit or procedure.

We also have expert staff dedicated to casting any fracture you may have.

Cortisone Injections

Injectable cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication, a synthetically produced steroid that lasts for a longer period of time than the cortisone your body naturally produces. It is injected directly into joints such as shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees and ankles to decrease inflammation, which can subsequently decrease pain. Cortisone injections usually work within a few days, and the effects can last up to several weeks.

Viscosupplementation

Viscosupplementation therapy is an appropriate treatment for people with knee arthritis that has failed to respond to more conservative therapy. A solution of hyaluronic acid is injected directly into the knee joint to restore the cushioning and lubricating properties of normal joint fluid. It is useful for people who are trying to delay surgery or are not candidates for knee replacement surgery. Viscosupplementation injections are typically given weekly for 3 or 4 weeks.
