Office Hours
Physician visits: Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Physical therapy: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Emergencies
In the event of a life threatening medical emergency, call medical emergency services at 911 immediately. DO NOT WAIT! Inform the emergency room staff that you are a patient of University Orthopaedic Clinic & Spine Center, and they will contact us.
After Hours Urgent Medical Needs
If you have an urgent medical need and need to talk to our doctors after our regular hours, please call University Orthopaedic Clinic & Spine Center at (205) 345-0192. A doctor is on-call 24 hours a day. Your call will be returned promptly.
Billing

Insurance & Payment
University Orthopaedic Clinic & Spine Center is a preferred provider for most major health plans serving west Alabama, and we accept BCBS, Medicare, Medicaid and Workers’ Compensation. Please contact your insurance company or you may call our office at (205) 345-0192 to find out if we accept your insurance plan.
If your insurance plan requires you to pay a co-payment, co-insurance, and/or a deductible, it will be necessary to pay at the time of your visit. Payment will also be required for all non-covered services. If you are not covered by health insurance we require a $150.00 payment at the time of your visit and we will be happy to work out a payment plan with you at that time. For your convenience we accept cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard and American Express. If you do not have insurance, we can arrange a payment plan for you.
Referrals
If your insurance is a managed care plan and you are required to obtain a referral from your primary care physician, the referral must be obtained before you can be seen for an office visit. Please coordinate this with your primary care physician in advance. Appointments will be rescheduled if required referrals are not received in the office by the time of your visit.

Prescription Requests
Prescriptions and refills for established patients of University Orthopaedic Clinic & Spine Center are routinely issued Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. You can make your request by calling our office at (205)345-0192 option 1. No refills are issued during the evenings, weekends, or holidays, as the doctors do not have access to your medical records during those times. It is helpful to anticipate your refill needs to avoid an interruption in your medication therapy. Please allow 48 hours for processing of all refill prescription requests.
