At University Orthopaedic Clinic & Spine Center, we provide all-inclusive services within our office so you don't have to go all over town to get the orthopaedic care you need. One of these valuable services is our Open MRI.
What is MRI?
MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) is a procedure that allows your doctor to see detailed images of the inside of your body. In many cases, MRI can lead to early detection and treatment of medical problems without invasive procedures such as surgery or a biopsy.
MRI images are formed by the computer processing signals that are emitted by the body tissue. The signals are generated using a magnetic field in combination with radio waves of a specific frequency. Different tissue characteristics are revealed through this process and translated to different contrast levels on the image.
In most cases, the procedure will take between 30 and 75 minutes, depending on the type of information required by your physician. Remaining still during the procedure is important. In fact, many patients become very relaxed and fall asleep.
